Man kills wife in cold blood

Arowolo Akolade, the man you see before you has been confirmed a murderer by the Nigerian police.

There is no concrete report as to what transpired the day he murdered his wife.

Friends of the deceased became concerned when Titilayo, a banker who was a staff of Skye bank till her death, didn't appear at work or get in touch with any of her colleagues for days.

Police officers were called in and on getting to the couple's residence discovered Titilayo's dismembered body being tended to what appeared to be a distraught Akolade.

He has since been arrested.

Akolade and Titilayo had been married for only 2 years.

Family members claim that Akolade had been beating his wife on regular basis, she left him but eventually returned to him, her reason was LOVE.

They had a daughter.

According to police reports, Titilayo was stabbed to death and cut into pieces on Saturday June 24, 2011.

SENSELESS LOSS OF OUR YOUTHS

His last post on his facebook wall was on Sunday, April 17, a day after the election.
At 6:48am, via mobile web, he wrote (unedited): "Na wao! This CPC supporters would hv (have) killed me yesterday, no see threat oooo. Even after forcing underaged voters on me they wanted me to give them the remaining ballot paper to thumb print. Thank God for the police and am happy i could stand for God and my nation. To all corps members who stood despite these threats esp. In the north bravo! Nigeria! Our change has come."

He was reported missing that day by friends and finally confirmed dead Friday. Reports from Kaduna, the home state of the Vice-President Namadi Sambo, stated that about 150 youth corpers have had their hands and limbs hacked off by people protesting the outcome of the 2011 presidential elections.

A youth corper who managed to escape the brutal attacks, narrated how they were rounded up by some youths. Their attackers appeared to be organised and they were told to line up and in turn had their hands amputated. Those who tried to escape had their limbs chopped off. But some of them managed to escape and alerted the authorities.

Reports indicated thousands of youth corpers were salughtered with about 35,000 receiving treament or displaced.

Bunmi Divinewealth Awoyemi wrote that, “International election observers and the media clearly cited examples of under-age voting across the North with those under-age voters voting for BUHARI and also cited cases of collusion between many of PDP’s traitor-agents, CPC’s agents and some youth corpers which resulted in the manipulation of figures recorded at polling centers in favor of CPC.
“There were also cases where Youth Corpers working for INEC were beaten up, stripped naked and their lives threatened for attempting to prevent CPC sponsored under-age voters from voting. There was a particular polling center where the Youth Corpers working for INEC were chased away from the polling center and the ballot box was stuffed with thumb printed ballot papers, the fake results declared for CPC and the result was still maintained as part of the final figures from INEC.
“Out of all these the most reprehensible is the under-age voters who voted in their millions across the North West and North East for BUHARI!! Contrary to initial expectations, Nigerians have proven that they are not divided because GEJ won 25% of the votes in 31 out of 36 Nigerian states. This shows that Nigeria has come of age and have left Politicians like Buhari behind.
This has to end, Nigeria has reached a point when such killings cannot be overlooked. We need to stand for what is right and with one voice call a stop to all such madness

The ACN Mega Rally by Erica Ogbor

Thousands of supporters thronged the Tafawa Balewa Square for the mega rally towards the re-election of the State Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) on Saturday the 5th of March, 2011.

The Lagos chapter of Action Congress of Nigeria ensured that the state campaign activities were well attended as the Lagos State buses (LAGBUS) conveyed supporters to the venue at no cost.

The rally, originally slated to start at 10am started around 12 noon due to the large turnout of party members and their supporters.

The arrival of Governor Fashola and Hon. Adejoke Orelope Adefulire with the ACN presidential flag bearer Mallam Nuhu Ribabu sparked off a wild celebration by the audience with people as they sang ACN songs.

When addressing the crowd, the ACN presidential aspirant Mallam Nuhu Ribadu stated ‘’it is time for them to give us a chance, because change is here, change has arrived, and change is in our chorus”.

The gubernatorial candidate in his campaign statement promised his supporters
“We will consolidate for what we have done, we will complete the Lagos - Badagry express way, we will complete the Lekki-Ekpe express way, and we will complete the new Lekki airport”.

The population of young people in the arena outnumbered that of the older generation as some of them have this to say about the candidate and the campaign in general:

There was a conglomeration of over one thousand seven hundred (1700) students in Lagos state who turned out to show their support to the governor. The conglomeration was lead by AKPEBI aka AHMED who is the school president. COMRADE AKEJU the chairman of student’s mobilization has this to say
“The governor’s innovations are genius because he puts education first and also he is still the best credible candidate for the gubernatorial position in Lagos state”. He added that students want to identify themselves with him because of his immense participation in the educational sector. He also affirms that he is extremely sure that Fashola would win the April election.

ADESAIGBAI SAMSOODEEN a 23 year student feels the campaign was very necessary and was conducted peacefully. To him Fashola is like a god to Lagos state. He affirms that he is not a politician but he loves the governor.
